Food preservation can be a challenge during lockdown. What a temptation it is to ease your anxiety and stress with your favourite comfort food. The trick is to create a schedule and stick to eat. Limit the number of trips to the fridge and mainly indulge in fruits that will give you some needed vitamins to boost your immune system, given the cooler weather.
The other challenge is how to store your food during this period, especially bread, which we need daily. Place the bread you bought directly in the freezer. The plastic bag that it came in will keep it protected for a few weeks.
As and when you require the frozen bread, take the bread out of the plastic and let it thaw in the fridge until it is no longer frozen (overnight for a loaf, and 2 to 3 hours for individual slices). Pre-heat your oven to 190 degrees Celsius and ‘refresh’ the bread for 3 to 5 minutes. Enjoy the Bread with a spread of your choice. However, we are open on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s for your fresh bread.
